This tdi was in last month with a code for the cold start injector we diagnosed it as a failing needle lift sensor as it only had 3.5 ohms and should have 180 to 200.We replaced #3 inj,this is the one with the needle lift sensor and all was well for a few week... The replies I received related to checking the fuses and a problem with the lighting module. We took the car to the BMW dealer and they reprogrammed the module. ($150.00) Not bad. Thanks for the replies.		 7

John said he loosens both lower steering u-joint (companion) bolts and slides the joint up the column shaft, thereby disconnecting from rack pinion with no mis-alignment issue. Good suggestion. Perhaps I'll soak the next victim in a penetrant bath for a week...		 2
